The Fourth Annual North Carolina Guo Juan Workshop will be held on October 16 and 17, 2010, at the Tech Shop in Raleigh, North Carolina. (map to site) This will be a 2 day event, filled with lectures, game reviews, and personalized instruction. The workshop will begin on Saturday at 10 AM, break for lunch at 1:00 PM, resume at 2 PM, break for supper at 6:00 PM, resume again at 7:00 PM and finish for the day at 9:00 PM. On Sunday, we'll begin at 10:00 AM, have a 1 hour lunch break beginning at 1:00 PM, and finish the day at 6:00 PM.

There will be 4 short lectures over the course of the workshop, appropriate to the level of the participants. Guo Juan would like registered participants to send their suggested lecture topics and requests before the workshop. During the workshop, the registrants will be divided into 2 groups, depending on their skill levels, to play games. All the games will be reviewed by Guo Juan. On Saturday evening, we will loosen up and enjoy a fun Go activity.

Guo Juan, a Professional 5 Dan, is one of the very best Go teachers in the Western Hemisphere and has been teaching westerners for over 20 years. Her style is engaging and challenging, and her Professional experience and friendship with many Professional players imbues her teaching with interesting stories and explanations. She has plenty to tell the amateur go player who is willing to listen, and upon listening, their game will certainly improve.

Guo Juan is an outstanding teacher of young people, but she is also exceptionally effective with older players. She has instructive suggestions for players of all strengths, from unranked beginners to seasoned upper level Dan players. Guo Juan tailors her instruction to each individual, and also teaches basic, cornerstone truths which benefit every player.
