Join us for a self paired ratings tournament in Hillsborough, NC, March 21, 2026. Play as many rated (or unrated) games as you wish. My house can only accommodate up to 20 players at one time so registration is encouraged. If we reach more than 20 registrants I'll contact each of them to determine a workable solution. Clocks, stones and boards will be provided and the usual AGA rules will be observed. We will offer drinks and light snacks and there are a number of lunch options nearby.
 
The location of the Tournament is Bob's house in Hillsborough. Directions will be emailed to everyone who completes registration. Please register at your earliest convenience and you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of your registration. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours, please email Bob to confirm your registration. Play begins Saturday morning at 9:00 AM and may continue into the evening.

Players may decide if their games will be rated or unrated prior to playing each game. You must be a current AGA member to have your games rated. Please be sure your membership is current or renew via the web at www.usgo.org before the tournament begins.

Current AGA members should enter at their actual AGA rating. Unrated entrants will be assigned a temporary rating after review by a strong player.

Handicaps will be determined by mutual agreement of the players, but should generally follow the formula used in the self-paired tournament at the US Go Congress based on difference of rating, e.g. 7.5 points komi for ratings difference of 0.6 or less, 0.5 points komi for difference of 0.6 to 1.5, 2 stones handicap for difference of 1.6 to 2.5, 3 stones for difference of 2.6 to 3.5, etc.

There are no entry fees for this event.
